Kimberly Marrs is my wife. She is a great mother. And a great fiddle player and singer who has had a long career in this business.
She grew up in Maryland Heights Missouri. Her Grandpa Jewel Bibb taught her how to play fiddle at 9 years old. She soon started competing in fiddle contests around the region. One of the contests was judged by Kenny Baker and Josh Graves who gave her first place. She was very successful at winning most of the contest fiddling. Her parents literally had a room full of trophies and plaques when she was a kid. At age 11 she won the Nashville Talent Search held in Brazil Indiana. The outcome of that was a 45 single with Bunky Keels on Piano, D. J. Fontana on drums, Elvis' first drummer, Bruce Watkins on guitar, now plays on all Alan Jacksons hits , Duke Dumas on bass. The single charted at its peak at number 18 in Billboard , called Country Fever A side and Grandpas fiddle and bow. They performed as Kimberly Dawn and The Bibb Family Band, which were Gary and Carol Bibb, Jewel Bibb- Grandpa- Uncle Mark Bibb, Tammy Bibb now Camenzind, also Tom, Danny, Joe, Gene, Wayne, and the great Bobby Minner, who works with Tim Mcgraw. For several years they performed shows across the country including, The St. Louis V P fair, The Georgia Mountain Fair theater in Hiawassee, Six flags over America and The Fox Theater in St Louis MO, The American Theater, West Port Plaza Playhouse, Hershey Park PA, and many more. During this time when she wasnt working with the Bibb Family, she was also playing with a local bluegrass group called Joe Rapisardo and Country Side Grass, which played bluegrass festivals in Mo. , IL. , Iowa, and elsewhere. While with this group she recieved a SPGMA award for fiddle.
In 1984 her sister Tammy and Kim started a country duet called The Bibb Sisters. They performed shows with Ginger Rogers, Bob Hope, Patrick Duffy, Keith Whitley, Gene Watson, Box Car Willie, Tom T. Hall, George Lindsay, Donna Douglas -of the Beverly Hillbillies-, Sons of the Pioneers, Charlie Mclain and Wayne Massey, Mason Dixon, Grady Nut from Hee-Haw and many others. They even had a booth at Fan Fair in the 80s.
She eventually moved to Nashville and worked with bluegrass groups like The Andrea Roberts band, Petticoat Junction , Pam Gadd with The New Coon Creek Girls at Renfro Valley Barndance Jamboree. She would travel to Florence Alabama to play with Scooter Muse, Jake Landers and Vasser Clements. She worked a season in Brason MO. at Silver Dollar City. From this she represented Silver Dollar City in the magazine Southern Living and flew to New York to be on Good Morning America.
She worked The opryland Theme Park in the Bluegrass show with Russ and Becky Jeffers, and some of the country shows backing many Opry Stars to name a few, Jack Green, Johnny Russell, Charlie Collins and Brother Oswald, Jeanie Pruitt, Porter Wagoner, Little Jimmy Dickens, Billy Walker, and more. She also played on the General Jackson Showboat with Russ and Becky Jeffers in a Country music show called Good Times in the Country. They also landed a spot on 60 minutes.
She has played The Grand Ole Opry with Mike Snider, Rhonda Vincent, and as a member of Wilma Lee Coopers band with Billy Pack and Johnny Bellar for about three years. During her tenure with Wilma Lee, Josh Graves filled in on dobro several times which was a thrill for Kim to play The Opry with Mr. Graves.
Here are a few more places she has worked with different people and different occasions. Roberts Western Lounge on Lower Broadway. The Midnight Jamboree. The Station Inn. The Wild Horse Saloon.
